Sometime around 2010, Forrest Fenn hid a $1M – $2M cache of gold and gems somewhere North of Santa Fe in the Rocky Mountains.

Fenn is a multi-millionaire living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He had a brush with death in the late 1980s and decided he needed to do something amazing as a legacy. Then he did it!

He commissioned a renaissance replica, bronze box and filled it with gold nuggets, jewels and treasure, then hid the treasure and wrote a poem as the only clue:

As I have gone alone in there/ And with my treasures bold,/ I can keep my secret where,/ And hint of riches new and old.

Begin it where the warm waters halt/ And take it in the canyon down,/ Not far, but too far to walk./ Put in below the home of Brown.

From there its no place for the meek,/ The end is ever drawing nigh;/ There'll be no paddle up your creek,/ Just heavy loads and water high.

If you've been wise and found the blaze,/ Look quickly down your quest to cease,/ But tarry scant with marvel gaze,/ Just take the chest and go in peace.

So why is it that I must go/ And leave my trove for all to seek?/ The answers I already know,/ I've done it tired and now I'm weak.

So hear me all and listen good,/ Your effort will be worth the cold./ If you are brave and in the good/ I give you title to the gold.

For years, treasure seekers examined the poem and scoured the mountains in search of Fenn's treasure.

On June 7th, 2020 Fenn confirmed via his website that the treasure was recovered by a person from "back-East" who wanted to remain anonymous.

Fenn met with the treasure seeker at an undisclosed location and reviewed the booty he walked away from a decade ago.
